Power Outages Reported Across Region 8 Amid Sunday Morning Storms

Heavy storms that moved through Region 8 early Sunday morning led to numerous power outages across several Arkansas counties, according to utility companies and emergency monitors.

As of 5:30 p.m. on May 25, many of the affected areas had power restored, but several pockets across the region were still experiencing outages by the evening.

Restoration Efforts Underway

Crews from all providers have been actively responding to outage reports throughout the day. Local officials say wind damage and downed lines were the primary cause of the disruptions.

Utility websites including Craighead Electric Coop, Entergy Arkansas, and Ozark Border Coop provided real-time updates as repair teams were dispatched across the state.

As of the latest reports, no injuries have been linked directly to the outages.

Community Caution Urged

Local authorities have reminded residents to treat all downed power lines as live and dangerous, and to avoid walking or driving through flooded areas.

“Even small outages can put people at risk if power is restored unexpectedly or if lines are hidden by storm debris,” said a spokesperson from Craighead County Emergency Management.

Homeowners using portable generators are also urged to follow manufacturer safety guidelines to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning or electrical fires.
