Seneca takes 

care of Riverdale

Top seeded Seneca took care of business Tuesday night to dispatch of 16th seeded Riverdale 76-51 in a Division 5 Regional boys basketball game.

Seneca improved to 20-2 on the season. The Indians were Ridge and Valley Conference champions with a 14-0 record. 

Riverdale finished its season with a 1-22 overall record.

Beers, Hall at State Wrestling Tournament

Prairie du Chien/Wauzeka-Steuben’s Clayton Beers (120#) ended his high school career in style Saturday afternoon at the WIAA State Tournament. The senior was able to win the last match of his career, and while doing it climb the podium to the third place spot.

defeat Hornets

Weston defeated host Wauzeka-Steuben 77-49 in a Ridge and Valley boys basketball game Thursday night. 

Weston’s Trenton Boland led all scorers with 19 points. Ramsey Arneson netted 18 and Marcus Schmitt added 17.


Cheerleaders Are Regional Champs

Regional Champs times 2

On Saturday, Feb. 20, the Prairie du Chien cheerleaders traveled to Waupaca High School to compete in the Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches (WACPC) Northern Regional Cheer Competition. The team competed in two divisions. They earned first place in the Non-Stunt Division and first place in the Division 2 Cheer Dance category, making them the regional champions of both divisions, and allowing them to advance on to state competition.

upsets Seneca girls

Ninth seeded Cassville pulled off a mild upset of host and eighth seeded Seneca 47-37 in a Division 5 Regional girls basketball game Tuesday night.

Seneca ended its season with a 15-8 overall record. Seneca had an 11-3 record in the Ridge and Valley Conference to share the conference title with Kickapoo.

Prairie du Chien 

clinches outright SWC title

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks clinched the SWC Title on Thursday night in Dodgeville with a hard fought win 63-58. The Blackhawks are now 19-2 (9-0 in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference). 

The Blackhawks were led by three players in double figures. Casey Hogenson (Sr) 22 points, Chas Sagedahl (Jr.) 12 points and Connor George (Sr.) 12 points.

Clayton Beers applies heavy pressure to his opponent in his semifinal match on Saturday in the Richland Center Sectional. Beers finished second to qualify for the State Wrestling Tournament to be held at the Kohl Center in Madison from Feb. 25 through Feb. 27.

Richland Center played host to one of the four WIAA Division 2 Sectional Wrestling Tournaments on Saturday, Feb. 20. Prairie du Chien was represented by four individuals (Clayton Beers 120#, Nick Rogge 132#, Stephen Ronnfeldt 182# and Peyton Hall 195#) who advanced from the River Valley Regional the week before. There are eight-man brackets and the top three place winners qualify for the state tournament in Madison, Thursday, Feb. 25 through Saturday, Feb. 27.

Four Blackhawk wrestlers advance to sectional

On Saturday, Feb. 13, the Blackhawk wrestling team traveled to River Valley for the WIAA D2 Regional. This is the start of the tournament series on the road to State. The top two individuals at each weight advance to the Sectional. As a team, Prairie du Chien/Wauzeka-Steuben finished third with 168 points behind Regional Champion River Valley and runner up Mount Horeb.

edges Lancaster

River Ridge defeated visiting Lancaster 46-40 in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night. 

The Lady Timberwolves led the Flying Arrows 19-17 at the half. 

Bridgette Myers led all scorers with 16 points. Amber Patterson netted 13. Sierra Schier scored 7.
