Hawkettes perform at 

WACPC State Dance Competition

Saturday, Feb. 4 was a great day to be a Blackhawk! The Hawkette Dance Team competed at the WACPC State Dance Competition at the La Crosse Center. The Hawkettes gave two amazing performances at state, ones that the team is really proud of!

Seneca pulls away from W-S

In a clash of conference unbeatens, Seneca pulled away in the second half to defeat host Wauzeka-Steuben 62-41 in a Ridge and Valley girls basketball game Thursday night. 

Seneca had a 23-17 advantage after the first half. 

Tatem Baures and Erin Krachey led Wauzeka-Steuben with 13 points apiece. Nellie Groom netted 8 points.

Big second half lifts PdC

Prairie du Chien boosted its overall record to 11-2 with a 65-49 win over visiting Decorah in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night. 

Decorah took a 24-21 lead at halftime, but Prairie came back to take the second half 44-25 for the victory. 

Prairie du Chien will next travel to Waukon on Feb. 2.


Hawkettes To State

The Hawkettes are, row 1: Katie Licht, Paige Severson, Katie Zahara, Mariah Slaght and Bree Holler. Row 2: Kara Katzung, Kina Myers, Morgan Kiesau, Caitlin Nolan, Lauren Kennedy and Archi Patel. The team is coached by Kelli Saxe.


Regional champ 

Hawkettes headed to state

The Prairie du Chien Hawkettes competed at the 2017 WACPC Southern Dance Regional Competition on Saturday, Jan. 28.  

The team earned second place in Division 2 Kick. The team also earned first place in Division 4 Pom, making them the Southern Regional champions. The girls are advancing to state next weekend in both divisions.

River Ridge 

over Highland

River Ridge easily topped visiting Highland 56-23 in a make-up girls basketball game Tuesday night. 

The Lady Timberwolves built a 25-8 halftime advantage en route to the victory. 

River Ridge improved to 11-2 on the season and 5-2 in conference action. Highland fell to 3-9 overall and 0-7 in the Six Rivers West.

to Richland Center

On Thursday, Jan. 19, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team hosted Richland Center for an SWC wrestling meet.

Every once in a while sports transcends mere wins and losses. Such was the case Jan. 12 when Prairie du Chien senior Ethan Swiggum wrestled a young man from River Valley who has down syndrome.

On Saturday, Jan. 14, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawks traveled to Stevens Point for the SPASH Duals. There were 10 teams in the tournament, split into five-team pools to wrestle each other.

The eight schools of the Ridge and Valley Conference will be considering whether or not to have 8-man football in the near future. The subject is expected to be on the agendas of upcoming school board meetings throughout the conference.

Wauzeka-Steuben nipped visiting De Soto 69-66 in double overtime Thursday night in a Ridge and Valley boys basketball game. 

The Hornets improved to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action. 

De Soto fell to 6-4 on the season and 2-3 in the Ridge and Valley.
