hold off Dodgers

Prairie du Chien got hot from the 3-point line late in the first half to surge to a 41-26 halftime lead, but Dodgeville came storming back to take the second half 39-26 as the Blackhawks held on for a 67-65 win in SWC boys basketball Friday night in Prairie du Chien. 

Prairie improved to 3-0 in conference action while Dodgeville fell to 2-2.

River Ridge girls win championship

The River Ridge girls basketball team won their own tournament Thursday afternoon at River Ridge High School. 

River Ridge beat North Crawford 53-34 in the opening contest. River Ridge led at the half 24-14 en route to the victory. 

Taylor Langmeier pumped in 17 points to pace the Lady Timberwolves. Maria Breuer netted 12 and Nicole Sturmer added 11.

River Ridge School District continues to be #joeystrong

The River Ridge boys basketball team has been playing with an added perspective this season as the students, staff and fans have rallied around Joseph Hamann and his family after Joey was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in early December.

Viroqua defeated host Prairie du Chien 53-47 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday afternoon.

Viroqua led 31-19 at the half. Prairie took the second half 28-22.

Gabby Ritchie pumped in 11 points to pace the Lady Blackhawks. Molly Mason added 10. Hope Meyer netted 9.

River Ridge blasted visiting Belmont 73-29 Tuesday night in a Six Rivers West boys basketball game.

The Timberwolves used a full court press to great effect to get numerous turnovers and easy baskets to break away and turn the game into a rout.

PdC grapplers beat MFL Mar Mac

On Thursday, Dec. 8, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team was host to MFL Mar Mac. Prairie du Chien won 38-33. 

The evening started off with many special events. Parents and local sponsors were recognized and the winners were announced for the annual gun raffle. 

Wrestling started off at 285#. After a scoreless first period, Jerrod Osterkamp was able to power in a half nelson to pin his opponent.

The River Ridge-Cassville wrestling team hosted the Pecatonica-Argyle Vikings Tuesday night in nonconference action. 

The Vikings defeated the Timberwolves 30-24.

Prairie girls 

beat Fennimore

Prairie du Chien defeated visiting Fennimore 42-31 in a nonconference girls basketball game Friday night. 

Prairie took the first half 22-16 and the second half 20-15 to earn the victory. 

Prairie du Chien is now 1-0 on the season, while Fennimore dropped to 0-2.
