Prairie du Chien’s golf week continued on Wednesday, Sept. 30 with the 18-hole WIAA Regional Tournament at Prairie du Chien Country Club.

The fall weather again created difficulties for many players. Wind gusts of 30 miles per hour at times impacted ball flight and even putts.

Allison Kennedy stayed focused even after some putting problems to card a 107. Lydia Seeley scored a 131 and Marie Achenbach a 151 to round out Lady Hawk scoring.

Four teams and four individuals outside of those teams moved on to the sectional to be played at Drugan’s Castle Mound in Holmen on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Allison’s 107 earned her a tee time at the sectional as one of the four individuals. The other three individuals were Andrea Smith of East Troy with a 109, Delaney Ryan of Southwestern/Cuba City with 109 and Josie Thomas with 110.

Edgewood Sacred Heart won the Prairie du Chien Regional with a 382 team score. Wisconsin Dells earned second with 395, Lakeside Lutheran’s  411 was third and Lancaster took fourth place and a sectional berth with 448.

Kennedy ties for 21st at Sectional

Allison Kennedy finished her Lady Hawks’ golf season playing in the WIAA Sectional meet at Drugan’s Castle Mound golf course in Holmen on Tuesday for the Division 2 Arcadia Sectional.

Allison struggled with the intermittent winds and the undulating  greens shooting a 48 on the front nine but couldn’t find her rhythm on the back carding a 50 for a 98 total.

She ended up tied for 21st out of the 48 ladies playing in the sectional. Regardless of the outcome, Allison maintained her poise and positive demeanor throughout the round.

She represented Prairie du Chien High School well, displaying positive sportsmanship and support for her lady competitors. This is the second time Allison has participated in the sectionals and she is motivated to take her golf game to the state finals.

Morgan Cooley and Brianna Kirsch of Lancaster both advanced to the state tournament as individuals with each shooting an 88. Hallie Tulip of Arcadia was the third individual to go to state with an 89.
