Dixie was a member of the Eastman Wesleyan Church, where she played the organ and piano. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, teaching others crafts, making hats for the school in Arizona and making baby blankets. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
