Anthony LeRoy Marovets, 94, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 21, at United Methodist Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Neil Hofer.

Interment was at Guttenberg City Cemetery.

Anthony was born on Feb. 26, 1925, at home outside of Monona, the son of Anton and Hazel (Hoffman) Marovets. 

Anthony attended the country school outside of Monona and later studied radio communications in Minneapolis. In his early years, Anthony farmed outside of St. Olaf for about 10 years and then later worked as a mechanic at Rhinehart Gas Station. Anthony also performed maintenance work for Clinton Pallet. On Oct. 1, 1959, Anthony was united in marriage with Betty Jean Winch where this union blessed the couple with five children. Anthony was an all-around handy man. He had the talent to fix almost any engine and machine. Anthony also took care of his wife Betty through her complications of many ailments for the better part of seven years. Anthony enjoyed watching the Billy Graham television program and his claim to fame was meeting Johnny Cash while working at the gas station in Monona.

Anthony leaves behind his children, Deb (Dwight) Feenstra, Jeff Marovets, Jack (Kathy) Marovets, Lori (Kevin) Collins and Rod (Amy) Marovets and also Kathy Lindruff and Kevin (Molly) Berns from a previous marriage; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty in 2002; siblings, Bennie Marovets, Margaret Koopman, Robert Marovets, Rosemary Koopman and Anna May Leas.
