Janice Lea (Ludovissy) Ulbrich of Guttenberg, died on June 26, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation was June 30, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Monday, July 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church. God, family and friends were very important to her.

Janice was born Feb. 24, 1941, at Turkey River, daughter of Lloyd and Cora (Hansel) Ludovissy. She spent her childhood in North Buena Vista, attended school at Immaculate Conception School and was a graduate of Holy Cross High School. After high school, she moved to Cedar Rapids where she worked as a nursing technician, at Mercy Hospital for a year before she married Paul J. Ulbrich on Aug. 26, 1961, at Immaculate Conception Church in North Buena Vista.

They farmed together and raised their six children near Luxemburg. After her children were grown she worked part-time at the Guttenberg Care Center as a certified nursing assistant for a number of years. She enjoyed her work there very much. After she retired from farming and CNA work Janice and Paul enjoyed traveling.

Janice was a member of St. Anne’s Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Guttenberg Hospital Auxiliary.

When her health was good she served as a team leader for St. Mary’s Catholic Church funeral dinners. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Guttenberg Hospital gift shop, Guttenberg Care Center and local meal site. Most important to her was spending time with Paul, her children, grandchildren and other family members. She also enjoyed spending time with all of her longtime friends, playing cards, baking/cooking and going to the Guttenberg pool.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Paul; children, Kim (Dave) Miller, Wanda (Tony) Przymus, Dennis (Shelly) Ulbrich, Doug (Beth) Ulbrich and Sherry (Paul) Hunstad; daughter-in-law, Melissa Ulbrich; grandchildren, Krystal, Haley, Drew (Clarissa) Carrier, Reid Carrier, Gwen Carrier, Cory Winch, Alex Ulbrich, Garrett Ulbrich, Erin Ulbrich and Dillon Aulwes; step grandchildren, Ryan Christie, Amber Miller-Palnik, Trent Przymus, and Ty Przymus; step great-grandchildren, Talon Przymus and Taiden Przymus; sister, Pat Ryerson; sisters-in-law, Gail Ulbrich, Mary Oviatt, Rita Jenks, Kate (Larry) Gettler, Pat Ulbrich (Claus Makowka) and Linda (LaVern) Ulbrich Pritchard and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Carl and Leona Ulbrich; son, Dean Ulbrich; son-in-law, Chad Winch; brothers-in-law, Robert, Jerome and Carl Ulbrich and Bill Oviatt, Charlie Ryerson, John Jenks and a sister-in-law, Fran Ulbrich.

She wants to thank her husband Paul, family, friends, all the oncology doctors and nurses at Medical Associates in Dubuque, and all the St. Croix Hospice Staff; they were her angels. God Bless You!

In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to St. Mary’s School, Guttenberg Hospital or St. Croix Hospice.
