Driver leads low-speed chase

On June 2, at about 7:50 p.m., a Grant County deputy initiated a traffic stop on Texas Road in rural Bloomington for a vehicle with a driver operating while revoked. 

Gerald Mumm, 64, of Glen Haven was operating his 2004 Chevrolet Tracker. Mumm’s driving status is revoked. 

According to a news release from the sheriff’s department, Mumm refused to pull over for the deputy, leading him on a low-speed chase for approximately five miles. Mumm drove to his home on Cottonwood Road and parked in his front yard. He refused to exit the vehicle. After back up arrived Mumm was again ordered to exit the vehicle and he refused, according to the report. Mumm was removed from the vehicle and arrested. 

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Wisconsin DNR. Mumm was booked into the Grant County Jail for OWI second offense, obstructing, and felony eluding. Mumm was also cited for operating after revocation.
