The Blackhawk track and field athletes that made it to the East Troy Sectional and got themselves ready for the day with a nice quiet drive.

Kori Jaynes got things rolling with a nice 100m dash and just missed her career PR by 1/10th of a second, finishing the season in 10th place. Faith Dillman was up next in the 100 High Hurdles and finished the day in 12th place with a 17.94. Ben Teynor was up next in the 110 High Hurdles. Ben hit a 15.80 and qualified for the finals. Ben then hit a career PR - 15.42 in the finals and just missed out on going to state by 1/100th of a second, finishing in 6th place.

Over at the Long Jump, Hope Martin finished her day in 11th place with a jump of 15’4” and got some nice experience to build on for next year. Kori Jaynes was up again, this time in the 200m dash. Kori hit a new PR - 27.06 and qualified for the finals. In the finals, Kori then hit another new PR - 26.85 and also just missed out on going to state by (.13) of a second and finished in 6th place.

Back to the second round of hurdlers. Faith stepped up and was preparing for the 300m hurdles. Faith hit a nice run of 49.69 to end her day in 7th place. Ben got ready for his next event as well and was hitting on all cylinders. On his way to a second-place finish and making his first trip to state, Ben nailed a new career PR - 40.42, which also allows Ben to own the new school record previously held from 2010 in the 300 Hurdles.

Karly Jaynes also was ready for her race in the 800m run. With four girls literally separated by less than a second and fighting for the fourth spot, everyone knew it was going to be a great race. Karly ended the night in eighth place with a 2:26.67 to end the day and year.

Finally, Gabby Ritchie came to sectionals looking to make a return trip to state in the Shot Put. Gabby did not disappoint herself or fans on the day. Throwing a new career PR - 37’4.75”, Gabby nailed down second place on the day and a return trip to La Crosse for the state meet.

The track team greatly appreciates Max Anthony, Spencer DeHart, Nicole Rickleff, Eva Keene, Hailie Myers, Clare Teynor, Jonah Hornseth and Lee Steiger for coming out to the meet, and all the parents, families, and friends who drove to East Troy to support the athletes.
