Diana Kitterman

Diana Dee (Ivey) Kitterman, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away March 17, 2019 at her home in Sioux Falls, SD with her family by her side. She was 69 years old.

Diana was born October 4, 1949 in Wichita Falls, TX to Bobby and Betty Ivey. She graduated from Burkburnett High School before going on to attend Draughon’s Business College and Alladin Beauty College.

On January 18, 1969 Diana married the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Kitterman in Burkburnett, TX. When she married Tom, she became a proud Air Force wife. She spent the first twenty years of their marriage moving from base to base around the country, embracing one adventure after another. Her favorite adventure arrived in 1974 when their son Chris was born. After their Air Force career, Diana and Tom continued to move to several states for work and at one point, travelled around the United States in an RV going from assignment to assignment. They created awesome memories and had many fun stories about their time on the road.

Diana and Tom enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. They frequently took day trips to surrounding areas to explore and see new sights. Those who know Diana best will remember her stories of growing up with her Grandpa ‘Frog’ Ivey and what it was like to grow up in West Texas. Diana was an amazing cook and her southern hospitality was legendary. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was incredibly generous.

One of Diana’s greatest joys was being a Grandma. She spent the last 14 years completely devoted to loving him. He is why Diana and Tom settled into Sioux Falls, however, no matter where Tom and Diana were assigned or lived throughout the years, Texas has always been their home.

Grateful to have shared her life are her husband of 50 years, Tom; son Chris (Emily) Kitterman, Sioux Falls, SD; grandson, Tom, Sioux Falls, SD; mother Betty Ivey, Abilene TX; sisters, Brenda (Don) Williams and Bobbie Ivey of Abilene, TX; several nieces and nephews who she loved as her own; many friends who she considered family; and her furry companion Ally.

Diana was preceded in death by her father Bobby Ivey.

The family is planning private services at a later date.
