Carol A. Schieltz, 74 of Luxemburg passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at the Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg.

Visitation was Tuesday, March 5, at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross.

Funeral services were March 5, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Luxemburg, conducted by Rev. Noah Diehm and Rev. Richard Gaul. Lector was Kari Nickol and giftbearers were Claire Schieltz, Grant Schieltz and Gavin Nickol. Pallbearers were Jason Schieltz, Cory Schieltz and Matt Nickol.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Carol was born Sept. 27, 1944, the daughter of John and Placidia (Oyen) Blondin. She graduated from Wahlert High School and Clarke University. She married Frederick Schieltz on Sept. 20, 1985, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque. Carol loved to read, work on word search puzzles and tend her flower garden. She also liked watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. 

Survivors include her husband, Fred; brother, Dennis (Mary) Blondin of Batavia, Ill.; brother-in-law, Richard (Diane) Schieltz of Luxemburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law, Nick and Julitta Schieltz.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and the New Vienna and Luxemburg Fire and EMS building project. 

The Schieltz family would like to thank the Guttenberg Hospital, Guttenberg Care Center and St. Croix Hospice, especially Cathleen for their wonderful care.
