The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team is advancing four individuals to the state tournament. Adams-Friendship was the host of a WIAA Division 2 Sectional on Saturday, Feb. 16. PDC was represented by seven individuals, all of whom advanced from last Saturday’s Regional Tournament.

At 113#, Matt Rogge would have a very busy day. Rogge opened wrestling with a 5-1 decision over C. Staver (Evansville/Albany). In the semifinals, Rogge was upended by eventual champion Frye (Viroqua) in a 4-1 decision. Rogge would then make quick work of Kosterman (Wisconsin Dells) with a 0:33 fall. Next up, Rogge would beat Curtis (Lodi) in the match to advance to state (Matt’s second trip in two years) by a score of 6-2. In the true second-place match, Rogge was decisioned by Jennings (River Valley) in a tight 2-1 match.

At 138#, Traeton Saint opened with a fall over Blaken (GET/MM) in 3:14. In the semifinals, Saint would score an 8-5 decision over A. Staver (Evansville/Albany) to set up a rematch of last week’s regional final with Alt (River Valley). In a battle that would stretch 8.5 minutes, Saint would be victorious with an escape to win 2-1 in ultimate tiebreaker. This marks Traeton’s third consecutive trip to the state tournament.

At 145#, Reid Koenig opened with a 9-0 major decision over Potter (Lodi). In the semifinals, Koenig would secure a 4-3 victory over Bahr (West Salem/Bangor) to advance to the finals and punch his ticket to the state tournament. In the finals, Koenig was beat 12-3 by Mowery (Westby).

At 152#, Bradyn Saint opened with a fall in 2:57 over Diederich (Sugar River). In the semifinals, Saint would face Nicolay (Lodi) and go into ultimate tiebreaker and ride his opponent out for a 4-4 victory to secure a spot in the state tournament. In the finals, Saint was pinned by Hauri (Brodhead/Juda). Also representing PDC were Isaac Avery (160#), Colten Wall (220#), and Jerrod Osterkamp (285#).
