On April 2, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit initiated a traffic stop on a 2013 Buick Verano in the township of Freeman for numerous moving violations.  The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Danica Kratz, 31, Clinton, Iowa. During the course of the contact, the deputy identified several indicators of drug use. K-9 Breck was utilized for an open free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle yielded several individually packaged baggies of marijuana, a plastic “THC” container of marijuana, THC WAX, several THC “edibles”, three large marijuana “bongs” and several glass smoking devices. Two different types of schedule II narcotics were located without prescription bottles and a cut straw with white residue was located with the pills. Several knives and a loaded 9mm pistol were also found during the search.

Kratz was arrested and tentatively charged with possession of schedule II narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating with a restricted controlled substance (first offense).

Assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was Crossing Rivers Hospital.
