Ferryville’s River Bluff Daze has lots of fun activities, including fireworks, in store for everyone Saturday, July 22.

At 8:30 a.m., a nature hike at Sugar Creek Bluff will start. Participants should gather at the Ferryville Boat Landing to carpool up to the bluff. An expert guide will accompany the hikers to see birds, wildlife and wildflowers and experience the panoramic view of the Mississippi River valley. The hike is co-sponsored by the Ferryville Tourism Council and the Mississippi Valley Conservancy. Call Joanne White for more information at (608) 734-9018.

Start the day with the Farmers Market at 9 a.m. in Sugar Creek Park. The market features Amish goods, produce, crafts, quilts, bird houses, yard ornaments, to name a few products, plus free coffee to sip while it lasts. Music will be provided by the Dawg House Garage Band and food by Tri-R Catering. Transportation to the market in Sugar Creek Park will be available via tractor and wagon throughout the day.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the antique tractor pull weigh-in will take place. The 11th annual pull then begins at noon at 170 Pine St., and involves three classes: antiques, ageless farm and non-turbo farm. To register for the pull, go to ferryvilletractor.com. This event is hosted and organized by the Ferryville Antique Tractor Association. Raffle tickets are on sale now and several drawings will be held that afternoon.

At 12 p.m., children are invited to participate in the kids games at the fire department. Food and beverages, provided by Freeman Lutheran Church, will be available at the community center. The offerings will include Italian beef and Chicago hot dogs, as well as coffee and donuts for the early risers. Adult beverages will be served by the Ferryville Fire Department and First Responders.

The annual Ferryville Vision and Promotion Board raffle features a one-of-a-kind king/queen size quilt (valued at $600), created by local quilt artist Diane Rosenthal, as well as a Kay’s Potiques hi-fired original stoneware bowl (valued at $120) and a $100 Cabela’s gift certificate. These items will be on display and raffle tickets will be available all day at the community center. The drawing will take place at 9 p.m. For further details, contact Theresa Yaeger at (608) 734-3977.

At 4:30 p.m., the activities will move downtown where the restaurants—The Swing Inn and Wooden Nickel Saloon—will have food specials. There will also be live music at River View Park, sponsored by The Sportsman Inn and Wooden Nickel, from 5 p.m until dusk.

Fireworks start at dusk. Promoted as “the best fireworks show around,” they will be shot off again this year by Mike and Roberta Callaway and the staff of Cheapo Depot/Fireworks Outlet. The fireworks are also sponsored by the Ferryville Vision and Promotion Board with donations by the entire community.
