Weston defeats

SWS on homecoming

Weston defeated host Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben 38-8 on Seneca’s homecoming Friday night in Ridge and Valley football action.

Weston scored on a 15-yard pass and a 2-point conversion to take an 8-0 first quarter lead.

Weston scored 12 points in the second period on a 26-yard pass and a 22-yard pass to take a 20-0 halftime advantage.

The Silver Eagles scored on a 2-yard run and a 45-yard run in the third quarter to go up 32-0.

Weston scored on a 10-yard run to increase the margin to 38-0 in the fourth period.

Jeremy Lessard hit pay dirt from 6 yards out and the 2-point conversion was good as SWS scored the final points of the game to pull within 38-8.

Lessard had 49 yards rushing on 18 carries and 1 touchdown for the Blue-Golds. Brady Fernette ran for 36 yards on 15 attempts.

“Weston was able to control the ball and sustain 3 long drives with all 3 resulting in touchdowns in the first half,” said SWS Coach Justin Goodrich.

“We were in position to make some big plays, but we did not capitalize. Our defense needs to get off the field quicker to allow our offense to score more points. Our special teams did a nice job of giving our offense good field position.”
