Board approves salary increases

The Clayton Ridge School Board met in regular session on Thursday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m.    Members in attendance were Katherine Ihde, Janice Andregg, Mike Finnegan, Jason Reimer, John Heying and Christine Aulwes.  Jeff Hoffmann was absent. Also in attendance were Allan Nelson, Shane Wahls, Steve Hoff, David Schlueter, Mary Seifert, Louis Cook, Mindy Reimer and senior Jason Rolfe.

Rolfe demonstrated his final project in the computer applications class, which consisted of a Lego Mind Storm – Rubic Cube Solver. 

Board members approved salary increases for non-association employees as follows: Balk - $.50/hour increase, Burgin - $.50/hour increase, VonHandorf - $.50/hour increase, J. Christianson - $1,225 increase, Jasper - $1,300 increase,  and D. Schlueter - $4,000 increase.  

Members also approved a single health insurance policy for Allison Mlikan in lieu of a salary increase.  

Michele VonHandorf was offered an additional stipend of $1,560 in lieu of health insurance, and Jim Schlueter was given a $1,725 salary increase and an additional stipend of $1,560 in lieu of health insurance. 

Michelle Fassbinder was approved for the positions of high school and middle school student senate advisor. The board authorized the recruitment and selection of a half-time school nurse for 2015-2016 and approved the sharing of technology employee Travis Geuder equally with the Central School District, increasing the number of days from two to 2.5 per week.  

Board members accepted the resignation of Ron Wahls as part-time ESL Teacher and the resignation of Wes Baier as head boys track coach. Jeremy Idler resigned from the position of middle school musical co-director, and Adam Sadewasser resigned as junior high wrestling coach.  

A motion to approve O’Connor, Brooks & Co., PC of Dubuque, Iowa to conduct the district’s annual independent audit for a cost of $12,500.00 carried unanimously.

A motion to approve the 2015 distribution of diplomas for 56 graduates pending completion of all graduation requirements carried unanimously.
